FX70: Ferrari Enzo successor spotted

What we see here folks is an early prototype which should lead to a successor for the famed Enzo of supercar stardom.

The test car, codenamed the FX70, is covered in a F430 skin, underneath is where the new development is taking place. Of special note are the single center mounted exhaust, a wider track, and larger than spec rear wheels, all pointing towards a very special prancing horse waiting to be unleashed.

The new supercar will likely come with a twin-turbo V8, or a twin-turbo V12, the former being the more likely candidate.

Spy Shots: 2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class getting updated.

The big-bad-benz is due for an earlier than expected refresh next year. Changes will be cosmetic, grille, lower front fascia, mirrors and tail-lights get updated.

The grille is a slightly more pronounced v-shape, headlights will reportedly feature LED daylight driving lamps on the sides. In turn, flashers will move to the bottom, an updated front and rear apron, distinctly more squared-off side mirrors and revised taillights that may or may not continue to feature the colored strips found on the current model.

The driver of the unsuspecting S-Class is making an effort to obscure the dash, which makes one believe the S-Class may also be getting a new COMMAND system interface.

Alchemist uses an innovative new patented process to cover a car's roof with the purest gold leaf. Prices start at £12,500 and each rooftop is signed and numbered and the client presented with a certificate of authenticity. For wealthy supercar clients after extra-extravagant customisation, Alchemist can also embed precious gemstones into the gold leaf for drivers after lavish sparkling bodywork.

Future cop car: More batmobile, less taxi cab.

Chevy and Ford have been retrofitting Crown Victorias and Impalas for police duty since the early 1980's. 30 years ago police cruisers were simple, they had a set of lights, a siren and few other modifications.

Today's cruisers are different. They are jammed full of computer equipment, speed detection equipment, weapons, surveillance equipment and other devices.

Then there's the special bumpers, ram bars and lights that are added. Extensive modifications are required to get a police cruiser up to spec, all of which add cost, complexity and take a product that was intended for civilian use and turn it into a bolt together hack.

A new start up from Atlanta thinks thinks it can offer something better than retro-fitted Ford Crown Victorias or Chevrolet Impalas. Carbon Motors Corporation has created the ultimate cop car, a batmobile of sorts that was designed for cops from the ground up.

Diesel VW Jetta TDI now being delivered in USA

Lovers of both fuel mileage and torque can finally rest easy; Volkswagen of America is now officially selling its 50-State-approved, clean diesel engine in either the Jetta sedan for $21,990 or Jetta SportWagen wrappers for $23,590. Equipped with the six-speed DSG transmission, both Jetta gets an EPA rating of 29 miles per gallon in the city and 40 on the highway. We expect to see better real-world numbers, though we're a bit wary of VW's advertising its nate rating of 38/44 -- a number that is impossible to compare with anything else currently available. In any case, the $2,000 premium for the TDI engine will be lessened somewhat by the Fed's $1,300 tax credit which applies to either TDI model. Look for an early test of the oil-burner on these pages shortly.
